My Trip to Korea EGEP - Part 1

Well actually citer ini agak dah lama ye kerana ia berlaku pada bulan July. Pastu baru aku terhegeh-hegeh nak menulis dalam blog bulan Nov. Cess..tak kire nak citer jugak!

Ok, citernye macamni, one of my colleague send e-mail saying that Ewha Womans University (ejaannye mmg Womans walaupon patotnye Women kan ikut English punye peraturan) kat Korea buat satu study visit for women activist. Nama programnye Ewha Global Empowerment Program (EGEP) anjuran Asian Center for Women's Studies,Ewha Womans University. Program 2 weeks dari 5 Julai sampai 18 Julai. 

Ayoo..Punye la lama kan! Aku pon terpikir2 if aku apply kang terpilih, 2 minggu Encik Jijan nak kena jaga dua orang hero yang sedang melasak tu. Tapi bila dah discuss dengan En Jijan, dia ok je. Katanya pegi la mama tengok negara orang, bila lagi kan nk travel oversea. Budak-budak nie bior abg jaga. Alahai..terharu tau! Kita pon suke la kan seben kita supportive! hikhik..

Ewha Global Empowerment Program (2012 summer)

“Asian Feminisms and Transnational Activism”

July 5 - 18, 2012

Asian Center for Women’s Studies, Ewha Womans University

Seoul, South Korea

The Asian Center for Women’s Studies at Ewha Womans University is calling for applicants for the Ewha Global Empowerment Program (EGEP) 2012 summer. EGEP is a two-week program that will take place twice a year (January and July). It aims to empower women working in non-governmental public sectors and to nourish the next generation of women leaders in Asia and Africa. EGEP 2012 summer (July 5-18, 2012) is designed for women activists in non-governmental public sectors in Asia, with the theme of “Asian Feminisms and Transnational Activism.”

Program Goals

On completing this program, participants of this program will have:

           - improved their theoretical knowledge and practical capacities from a gender perspective;

           - broadened their understanding of women’s lives, women’s issues, and women’s rights in            

             Asian context; and

           -strengthened their leadership capacities to build women’s solidarity and cooperation in local,

             national, and transnational contexts.

              

Eligibility

With minimum three years of experience, women activists working in international and national non-governmental public sectors in Asia, such as NGOs, NPOs, civil society organizations, including individuals working independently are encouraged to apply for this program.

Number of Participants: 20~25

Programs

While a more specific EGEP curriculum will be provided separately, the following is the major activity that participants may expect from the program:

            -EGEP open forum

            -EGEP workshop

            -Lectures

            -Action plans

            -Study tours to Korean NGOs

            -Cultural and social events

Language

English is the official language of the EGEP.

※Application requirements should submitted via online ( http://acws.ewha.ac.kr ).

※Submission Date: April 2 ~ 15, 2012 (Korean local time). Late applications will not be considered.

※All forms are downloadable at the Asian Center for Women’s Studies ( http://acws.ewha.ac.kr ).

Selection Criteria

The selection committee will evaluate the applicants based on the following criteria:

 field experience                                                                         25%

 expertise in women’s issues                                                       25%

 potential as next generation of women leaders                            25%

 contribution to the community                                                    25%

※Successful candidates will be informed individually via e-mail on May 14, 2012.

Funding

Ewha Womans University provides the funding to cover fees for the tuition, dormitory including a two-week allowance for all the participants. Funds for airfare will be awarded only to the participants from Korean ODA beneficiary countries.

So aku pon apply je la tapi tidak meletakkan harapan yang tinggi. Iyo la, ramai lagi yg hebat kot yang apply. Pastu dia amik 20-25 orang je. The process bukan senang ye. Bukan ko isi2 borang gitu-gitu je. Dah macam duduk exam bagai. Hadoo! Aku pulak kat opis membusy kan, so agak kalut jugak la masa nk apply tu. Siap bos aku kena isi recommandation form.

Meh aku listkan proses yang aku lalui nak apply study visit nie.

Applicant mesti mempunyai sekurang-kurangnya 3 tahun pengalaman bekerja dalam bidang activist. Kira aku menepati kreateria ni. Aku dapat e-mail ni bulan March, tarikh nak hantar form tu start from April 5 - April 15. 

Aku punye la excited isi form kan, kena buat essay bagai. Pastu dengan bangganye nak send la form2 tu. Rope2nye kena log in kat websitenye, isi kat situ uols! Ha tu la xbaca arahan betol2. Dah cuak gaban pastu pikiran mula la serabot kan. Sempat ke tak sempat ni, kang dah lepas tarikh tutup melepas peluang. Satu lagi dah last2 minute baru ko terhegeh2 nak hantar kan! Lempang sikit...Tetapi dengan berkat kesabaran dan semangat waja, (cewah..) akhirnya aku selamat isi dan bagi sume yang direquest terus ke dalam websitenye. Dan terima kasih jugak la kat my manager yg sudi isi letter of recommendation! Fuhhh...lega uols!

Ha dah selesai, aku pon tunggu je la whether dapat ke idak. Keputusannya akan diumumkan pada 14 May 2012.  So sebulan tu tunggu la dengan penuh debaran, sebenarnye berharap jugak agar terpilih.kuang..kuang..

Tiba saatnye, detik yang ditunggu telah tiba. Jeng..jeng..jeng...datang2 opis tak sabo2 nk chek e-mail kan..hurmm hampa uols pagi tu. Tengahari pon xde jugak. Iye la tertanya2 la jugak kan dapat ke idak. Selagi tarikhnye 14 May kan. Tibe-tibe petang tu pukul 4.54 petang, aku dapat email dari EGEP team. Tajuknye sangat mengujakan ye..

So maunye ko tak melompat kegirangan kat cubicle ko! Sawan ke hape?? hahaha..

Apa la motip aku amik pic kat car park  Incheon airport nie. patutnye amik kat dalam airportnye. Mereng betol la! Aahh..tak kesah la janji kat airport Incheon uols! Ko ade? hahaha

Ni kat depan pintu gate Ewha Womans University, Seoul Korea! Yeay!

Ha ni plak kat bangunan dalam Universiti..canggih uols! Kat kiri kanan tu actually ade cafe, gym, ada cinema, ade tempat budak2 study. Rasa nak belajo balik je uols!
